Scholarship
Awards
National Scholarship Program
The National Scholarship program is designed to recognize graduating high school seniors for academic achievement, to provide financial assistance to seniors in order that they may accomplish their future financial management baccalaureate educational goals and to increase local scholarship programs. Applications for a scholarship must be endorsed and submitted by an ASMC chapter. Submissions will not be accepted directly from the high school counselor or student.

Member Continuing Education Award
The continuing education scholarship is to provide financial assistance to aid ASMC members in continuing educational endeavors, and to encourage of local ASMC chapter members' continuing education programs. Applicant must be a member or corporate member designee in good standing of ASMC. Applicant must have been a member for a minimum of the two full consecutive years immediately prior to the submission due date.

Awards
Accounting and Finance
Responsibilities are generally concerned with the man-agement of the accounting program, including planning and directing the operation and adapting the program to best serve management's needs. Day-to-day accounting responsibilities include the maintenance of control and subsidiary accounting records in accordance with the agency's accounting principles and standards, payment and recording of civilian/military payrolls, processing of public vouchers and performance of necessary cost ac-counting functions. Fiscal reporting is required externally to interested agencies and internally to serve manage-ment's financial information re¬quirements. Accounting specialists are involved as the financial experts in the review, analysis, development and implementation of accounting systems and related procedures and the maintenance of existing systems and procedures.

Acquisition/Cost Analysis
Acquisition Decision Support, project management, economic analysis, management analysis, business case analysis, and cost/benefit analysis. Responsibilities include support of the acquisition corps in areas where acquisition and cost analysis are required. Also includes special studies, cost modeling and parametric cost modeling.

Auditing
Auditing responsibilities include providing management and interested parties a competent and independent appraisal of the results of financial operations and other such matters. In addition, auditing includes the degree of compliance with laws, regulations and principles of sound financial management; the effectiveness, econ-omy and efficiency of resource utilization, and the extent to which desired results or benefits are being achieved.

Budgeting
Budgeting responsibilities include formulation, justification, execution and innumerable facets contained within these areas, to include consulting, analysis and technical advice, as well as hands-on preparation or supervisory responsibilities in the budget process.

Contractor Support
This award is designed to recognize outstanding contractor support to a government organization or service. Contractor must have worked for the organization for a minimum of one calendar year and significantly contributed to one of the fields of Comptrollership.

Comptroller / Deputy Comptroller
Comptroller responsibilities extend throughout the total management cycle, encompassing the point where re-sources are consumed and used to produce outputs to-ward the accomplishment of missions. The comptroller has primary staff responsibility for obtaining, administra-tively controlling, and accounting for funds needed to secure required resources. The comptroller participates in establishment of objectives, policies, procedures and organization, to include reviewing and assessing for ef-fectiveness and efficiencies the accomplishment of the command in relation to mission and objectives.

Resource Management
The individual award for resource management is de-signed to recognize outstanding performance by an indi-vidual who works in financial management; for example, planning, programming, budget¬ing, accounting or execu-tion of financial programs. The award is designed to rec-ognize superior contributions to resource management at functions that do not fit into the other categories. Ex-amples of these areas are manpower management, in-formation systems, financial management, general ac-counting and analysis.

This award is for outstanding team performance and is designed to recognize a team whose accomplishments, adoption of study results or outcome of savings, aid in the advancement of the profession of military comptrol-lership. A team is defined as a group of at least four, but not exceeding twenty (team leader plus 19), individu-als brought together temporarily to perform a specific task.

Award
Overview
The objective is to encourage authorship by members of the society. Winners of the Essay Award may have their essays published in the Armed Forces Comptroller magazine. Up to three winners will be selected. First place winner receives $750. Second place receives $500 and third place receives $250.

Award
Overview
This award recognizes one Corporate Member for outstanding contributions made to a local Chapter and the National Organization in the furtherance of the goals of the chapter and the society. To be nominated for this award a Corporation must have been an ASMC Corporate Member for at least two consecutive years. Performance for nomination, however, is for a single year (January 1 to December 31).
